There will be common birds photos/recording sheets for everyone who would like to take part.

Spend just one hour wandering around the parks either singularly or in small groups (BRING THE KIDS) looking for the many different species that live with us in the parks.

We will enter our results afterwards into the RSPB website.

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is in its 33rd year, and last year over 500,000 people took part. It’s already the biggest garden bird survey in the world but the wildlife charity says that the more people take part, the more useful the data is. The RSPB hopes to gather the most comprehensive set of garden bird survey results ever this year. There has been almost a 20 per cent increase in results submitted on the weekend of the survey since last year. And in one hour alone last year, the RSPB received just short of 10,000 forms. They really mean it when they say that every garden counts, and it doesn’t matter if you saw ten different birds species, one bird or none at all – it’s important that they know. These results can help shape the work the RSPB do, and the species and habitats we focus on. If you do take an hour out of your weekend, make sure it counts.

Apart from drinking lots of tea, making lots of noise and generally chatting about stuff one of the main things we do at the AGM is vote in a committee. This is a very special year as much of the committee are moving on and or taking on non committee roles in the club. This opens up new opportunities as we enter the clubs next and must exciting phase as the Lordship Loop is born.

The Lordship Spinney Management Group in conjunction with "Back 2 Earth", is to hold the first of a series of workshops to manage the  trees in the Spinney.

You are invited to join in this interesting, informative and enjoyable workshop.

The task of this workshop, is to create a scale map, plotting the position and name of each tree in the spinney. This workshop will be led by Steve Mason. You will not need to know in advance how to identify trees, in order to join the workshop, as this will be taught and visual aids will be provided.

Steve Mason is an experienced Environmental Consultant who has run many community environmental workshops.

Please bring your own packed lunch, sturdy footwear and warm clothes as we will be working outside. Tea will be provided.

If heavy rain is forecast for the whole day, this workshop will have to be cancelled.

On a future date 

The next phase of the work will involve either coppicing, thinning or leaving larger trees to reach their full height. This will be done to retain the largest variety of trees overall and to provide each tree with the space to develop. Coppicing is done one area at a time over a period of years so that wildlife is not deprived of habitat.

Coppicing is an ancient method of managing and preserving trees by cutting them in such a way that they re-grow more thickly and vigorously. This allows the tree to live much longer than one that has not been coppiced.

Run by experienced drama teachers this will be an opportunity for park users, local residents and people of all ages and abilities to take part in drama games and related activities. No booking required – just turn up. Free.

1.00-2.00: THE PERFORMANCE – AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS

Freely adapted from the novel by Jules Verne and the musical by Phil Willmott and Annemarie Lewis Thomas, this open air theatre event will enable you to treat your friends and family of all ages to a whistle stop tour of four continents, as dashing Victorian adventurer Phileas Fogg and his hapless servant Passepartout recount their daring attempt to cross the globe in record time. Put on by the Steam Industry Free Theatre. Free.

11.00-3.00: THE CONSULTATION – HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE SHELL THEATRE

There will be Questionnaires to fill in with your ideas and views about the future usage of the historic Shell Theatre. Children will be able to add their views through drawings. The Shell is currently being repaired – at the back as a depot for parks staff, and in front as a public performance space. Built in the 1930s, it has hosted all kinds of events including tea-dances, boxing matches, school award ceremonies, theatre shows and music gigs. 6 years ago the freestyle area in front of the stage was built for skateboarding and cycling stunts, but leaving a large assembly space for people to gather to watch any future performances. Since then it has been used to host a skateboard jam, a bmx world stunt champion display, and a night-time pedal-powered film show! What kind of activities and performances would you like to see in future

Commissioned by Haringey council the Lordship Loop construction is being led by Rowan Sorrell a Welsh Downhill Mountain Biking Champion and his Back on Track team who have a wealth of experience in designing and building bike tracks.  The design has had significant input from Rowan himself as well as the different local community groups including Lordship Recs local off road cycling club The Trax.

The "Lordship Loop" is created within open areas of woodland and the design is a big long ‘pump track’ style trail loop which is ridden individually and is very skills and feature intensive. It will cover a looped distance of 391metres which will be made from re-used earth bunds from recycled earth from the park and surfaced with aggregates to provide a fun year round riding facility. Designed as a single track experience it will be made up of rollers, berms, roller doubles and step-up jumps and will be rollable by all abilities but with more challenging jumps for experienced riders. The track is open all year.

The Trax off road cycling club was set up in advance of the design work to create a cycling community in Tottenham around the Lordship Loop track to ensure that its design meets local needs as well as to ensure its adoption, sustainability and maintenance once built. To this aim The Trax has been successfully growing a vibrant (free) youth club that meets every Saturday 10-1pm for 8-16 year olds and holding regular rides in and around Tottenham for the last 18 months.

"The Trax are delighted to be working with Rowan Sorrell and his Back on Track team and are grateful to Haringey council and the local community for the opportunity. The Lordship Loop is a fantastic community project in Tottenham and could not have been made possible without the wide community support bought together through the Lordship Rec Users Forum led by the Friends of Lordship Rec and Haringey council working together with user groups such as The Trax. To make it a success at launch and beyond we are calling on the local community and the wider bike community to get involved now!

Volunteer opportunities exist to help the club maintain the track, coach local kids on it, run and marshall competitions between schools on it as well as help fundraise to maintain it and the club and more.  The opportunities are vast!  Please come join us and maybe we can make this not just an amazing local community resource for Tottenham but even a blueprint for other parks around London and beyond"

The project will offer wide community benefits including encouraging more local people of all ages into sport (with its associated health and social benefits) as well as offering valuable volunteer opportunities to develop skills around the local club framework which has been set up to manage the track.
