[Friends] Any objections to a proposed 3-day evangelical event in Lordship Rec (9-11.7.09)?

I believe an evangelical event is not in keeping with a public park. It is,
in reality, a commercial event and it will prey upon vulnerable people at a
time of financial uncertainty for a large majority of people in Haringey.
Positioning it in what is predominately a poor and working class area is
predatory. If they want to allow it they should make Ally Pally available
which is designed for that type of event. There are parking facilities, bus
routes, space for coaches etc and is only a bus ride away from Tottenham if
anyone wants to attend.

Particularly clever event if the council allows it at a time when they are
looking to introducing a CPZ across the whole of the area enclosed by Bruce
Grove/Lordship Lane /Philip Lane and enclosing the Rec, where for the most
part there is not a massive parking problem.

Subject: [Friends] Any objections to a proposed 3-day evangelical event in
Lordship Rec (9-11.7.09)?

To all Friends

The Council parks dept have asked us whether we have any objections to a
proposed 3-day national evangelical rally in Lordship Rec (Thurs 9th - Sat
11th July 2009, 5.50pm - 9.30pm)? Details are below. 1,000 people expected
each day. They aim to have amplification, music and speeches in the main
field (their site map indicates they aim to cover a large area with
seating). They are not a local group.

If so, let me know by Wed 18th March in case we decide to send in our views
as the Friends..
